Sticking stickers on the car, where to start?
How to properly apply a sticker to a car
Applying stickers to your car can be a great way to express your personality or even promote your business. To ensure that your sticker looks professional and lasts a long time, it's important to follow the correct application process.
Required materials
Before you begin, make sure you have the following materials:
- Mild detergent (without alcohol and ammonia)
- Clean, soft towel or microfiber cloth
- Spray water with a few drops soap
- Plastic putty or credit card
- Hair dryer (optional)
Sticker application instructions
1. Preparation
First, the surface of the car where the sticker will be applied should be thoroughly cleaned. Use a mild detergent and warm water to remove any dirt, grease or wax. Then rinse the surface with clean water and allow it to dry completely.
2. Sticker positioning
Before peeling off the backing, try different positions of the sticker on your car to find the spot you like best. Once you have decided, you can attach the sticker to your car using a small amount of masking tape on top to hold the sticker in place.
3. Gluing
Carefully peel the backing off one edge of the sticker without moving the sticker. Spray a thin layer of soap and water mixture onto the surface of the car. This will make it easier to adjust the position of the sticker.
4. Ironing
Place the sticker on the car and use a plastic card to smooth out any air bubbles and ensure the sticker adheres well to the surface. Start in the center and smooth out towards the edges.
5. Drying
Allow the sticker to dry for at least 24 hours. If you have a hair dryer, you can gently heat the sticker to ensure a better bond, especially if the weather conditions are cooler.
Tips and tricks
- Do not use sharp objects to smooth out air bubbles so as not to damage the sticker.
- If the sticker is large, ask another person for help to make the process smoother.
- Do not apply stickers in extremely hot or cold weather as this may affect the adhesion of the adhesive.
